Background Situation
A North America based 1BN USD manufacturing company wanted to build a state-of-the-art solution for the information worker community.
Challenge
The company had a Java based portal that it used for over 5 years. The existing portal did not have content management platform, search platform or workflows platform and hence could not scale up to meet the growing needs of the organization in terms of collaboration, information sharing and knowledge enhancement.
The company also used a mix of technologies for different needs – For example: the leave management system was tightly integrated with SAP and biometric attendance server that managed the payroll and attendance records respectively.
Nitor Solution
Considering the growing needs of the company, Nitor proposed migration of current portal to SharePoint Server 2010 platform. Nitor also proposed building a comprehensive HR DB module on SharePoint to server multiple self-service workflows such as leave management, employee joining and separation, travel requests and advance management.
The migration became a bigger challenge because of the huge database size in the house of 10 GB and over 60 pages. 5 workflows, 2 LOB integrations with SAP were migrated with functional enhancements to SP2010. Nitor handled the challenge of user management and authentication using various features of CBA of SP2010.
Nitor team handled the entire information management architecture, server/farm physical and logical architecture and application architecture for HR DB was designed and implemented by Nitor. With its expertise in the area of Business Intelligence, Nitor worked on requirements collection and planning and created a phase-wise implementation approach. The Nitor team developed multitude of applications such as internal job boards, internal communications and market place for employees, workflows to manage some HR related activities etc.

Background Situation
The customer with 30 group companies and a few thousand employees wanted to have an online portal to enable communication, collaboration and information sharing between employees.
Challenge
The online portal needed to be scalable and robust to support more than 1200 concurrent users. The company wanted scalable platform to create workflows, third party integrations etc.

The Nitor team provided end to end services for creating scalable technology and hardware architecture. Using various tools, Nitor team also helped in optimization of licensing and hardware requirements. The team also configured shared services and designed complete application.
After working on requirements collection and planning, the Nitor team created a phase-wise implementation approach. It developed multitude of applications such as internal job boards, internal communications and market place for employees, workflows to manage some HR related activities
For extranet users, Nitor implemented automated FBA process for remote access. To ensure that the product is coming out as per the requirements and vision of the company stakeholders, Nitor deployed all the applications to production server along with facility to stage content for approval before pushing to production.
On an on-going basis, Nitor helped the company with continuous enhancements, problem resolution and usage tracking of the portal users.

Background Situation
One of the largest asset management companies in North America was looking for migrating a web portal and application from old technology (.NET 1.1) to new technologies and also wanted to do rebranding of the portal and development of new modules.
Challenge
The earlier portal had few applications developed using .Net 1.1 as web parts where there were some compatibility issues. Also, the Database size was too large so the migration of the Database was a challenge.
Nitor Solution
To start with, the Nitor team did an in-depth study of the existing portal and orientation on various applications and web parts to be migrated to create an inventory of pages, web parts and other information to be migrated to new portal.
After defining the Information Architecture and the architecture for the new portal, the team decided to carry out a gradual upgrade on the portal and make the new portal up and running.
The new branding on the portal was implemented after first understanding and defining the Branding requirements.
For the large database migration, Nitor team followed Microsoft Best Practices as suggested by Microsoft.
With Nitor’s definite and predictable process created for remote migration on SharePoint sites, the project was completed in record time of 6 months covering assessment of existing portal, creation of new portal through migration, development of new modules, implementation of new branding and also incorporation of UAT feedback from consultants.
